Mentoring

Life is busy and complex these days. Many youth make poor decisions because their families or communities are unable to guide them. Through our mentoring program, we want to provide the help that will keep them from slipping through the cracks. SOY mentoring relationships are not about parenting and policing youth, but about supporting and listening to them ‘ being a friend.
Have you ever wanted to make a new friend? Help someone make good decisions? Have the the joy of caring for someone? Stay youthful through a connection with a young person? Know the satisfaction of fulfilling God’s invitation to love your neighbor? The benefits of mentoring are many and varied and SOY has witnessed that many times the mentor benefits as much or more than the mentee. As Jesus Christ said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ (Acts 20:35b)
