Shane Vander Hart

Shane is Serve Our Youth Network’s Director of Ministries and Volunteer Development. He has been on staff with SOY in Des Moines since 2002 and has a passion for sharing  Jesus Christ with juvenile offenders, and equipping and mobilizing volunteers.  He has a B.A. in youth ministry (minor in Bible) from Trinity International University, and has been involved in youth ministry since 1992 in church, public school, Christian school and juvenile facility settings and has also recently been an interim pastor in an area church.  Shane is available to come give a presentation to your church or group and has been sought after to provide pulpit supply in Central Iowa Churches.

Part of Shane’s responsibilities with SOY which have evolved in his time with SOY is to recruit and train mentors for our community-based mentoring program, provides chaplaincy services for youth in the Polk County Juvenile Detention Center, supports and train staff who also provide mentor training, and he oversees SOY’s Bible discussion groups program.  He also is SOY’s webmaster and leads SOY’s social media outreach.
