From the Executive Director: The State of the Organization

First of all, I want to THANK YOU all for your continued support for SOY through your prayers, financial giving and service. We could not provide the hope we do, to children and youth in need without you. As many of you are aware over the last few years various nonprofits, business, organizations, churches and individuals have been affected financially by the current economic conditions that we are experiencing. In recent months SOY has found itself among those now being affected. Due to the loss of two major federal grants and some additional local support, which constitutes approximately 50% of our current budget SOY will be experiencing a reduction in finances and staff in the coming months, and is scheduled to go through some organizational changes as well.

It has always been our mission to serve high risk youth by offering them hope through the demonstration of Christ’s love. It is our plan to continue to do this in similar capacities, however the level and strength that we do this will be affected. We know we serve a big God, and believe, as the bible tells us, “without faith it is impossible to please God”. So, it is with great faith, in a great God, that we believe there is still a purpose and mission for SOY. However, we also believe that God instructs us to be good stewards of what He has given us, and because of this the leadership of SOY has had to make some difficult decisions regarding changes in our organization.

We also recognize that as friends of SOY, you join with us during this time of change and transition, in praying for the mission, purpose and state of SOY going forward, and we thank you for your prayers. We also thank you for your continued financial support, and as God leads you, ask you to consider increasing your donation to help fund the continued mission of SOY. As always, we value the relationships and partnerships that have been created over the years in the communities that we serve and look forward to continuing those in the days ahead. We also recognize the value of developing new relationships and partnerships going forward. We would love to meet with you, share our story, hear yours, and see how God can help us work together to bring hope to the lost and help to those in need.
