SOY Banquet a Success!
|
SOY has been blessed with another successful annual fundraising banquet! We extend our heartfelt thanks to the almost 300 supporters who attended and participated in an evening filled with fellowship, good food, music and inspiring messages. A silent auction was held, which included a variety of items donated by multiple businesses and individuals. Brooke Bouma, morning anchor of "Today in Iowa" at WHO-TV 13, served as our master of ceremonies for the fourth consecutive year. SOY’s outgoing Executive Director, Bernie Van Roekel, shared an overview of our current programs along with our goals for the future. The invocation was delivered by Pastor Keith Ratliff. Charlee Eekhoff entertained the audience by sharing her talent with the violin. SOY mentor M Our featured speaker was Klayton Korver, Director of Operations of the Kyle Korver Foundation. Klayton inspired us by sharing examples from his life illustrating how important it is for adults to share their time and talents through mentoring, volunteering and relationships with young people. Our board Vice President then gave a farewell to Bernie Van Roekel and introduced our new director Melanie Beath. The banquet concluded with a benediction delivered by Pastor Jill Ver Steeg. The evening was a great venue to share the impact of SOY’s mission and to share the message of how each of us has skills and talents that can make a difference in the life of a child. We are grateful and humbled by your generosity and support of our efforts to extend God’s love and mercy to Iowa’s youth. We thank all of you who attended, hosted a table, contributed to the event, and donated items to the silent auction.
