Executive Director Bernie Van Roekel Announces His Retirement, Board Begins Search for New Director

SOY’s Executive Director Bernie Van Roekel has announced his retirement effective Sept. 30, 2011.  Following his retirement as the principal of Waukee High School,  Bernie was hired as SOY’s third Executive Director and has led SOY well during his tenure and will be greatly missed.  The SOY Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, along with the numerous community partners of SOY are all grateful for Bernie and his servant-hearted dedication and leadership of SOY, through which hundreds of Christian volunteers have been equipped to serve Central Iowa’s at risk young people where God’s hope and healing has been shared and nurtured.
