May is Foster Care Awareness Month

May 10, 2011

Many of the youth we serve have been involved in the foster care system.  It is almost a universal problem that there are not enough foster care homes to meet the needs of children and youth who may be temporarily place outside their home and for youth whose parents’ parental rights have been terminated.  This is especially true the older the children are.

Perhaps God is calling you to be a foster parent.  If so, there’s no better time to learn more since May is Foster Care Awareness Month.

Not only do these youth need foster parents, but they need all sorts of additional support from adults.  Why not learn more about mentoring these youth in the community or at a local shelter?
