“We Need You Here”

October 21, 2010

By Shane Vander Hart

Tonight Scott, one of our Bible discussion group leaders, was telling me about the great work that God is doing amongst the youth in the Bible discussion groups that meet at the Polk County Juvenile Detention Center.  Kids are coming broken and hungry for Jesus.  Youth are placing their faith in Christ left and right.  He said the other night he thanked one of the youth for coming, and the young man told him.

“No thank you.  We want you here.  We need you here.”

This reminds me about what the Apostle Paul wrote – “For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?  And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’” (Romans 10:13-15, ESV).
