Respecting The Cheerleading Team During Recovery

September 21, 2010

image Many of the youth that we serve have struggled with addiction issues and recovery whether it is alcohol or some other illegal substance.  One of the things that is needed for successful recovery is to have people who will support those trying to break the chains of addiction – people who will play the role of cheerleaders.

Caesar Gamez provides several ideas for those who are in recovery on how they can respect their cheerleading team.  If you know someone recovering from a chemical addiction (or any addiction for that matter), please pass his post along:

  1. Respecting your cheerleading team begins by recognizing the players.
  2. Respecting your cheerleading team also means that you notice and value the sacrifices being made by others.
  3. Respecting your cheerleading team also means that you are willing to put away your anger in order to make room for accountability.
