Next Mentor Training – 7/19/10
Our next training for prospective mentors will be held on Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Polk County Juvenile Detention Center (1548 Hull Ave. in Des Moines) from 7:00 – 9:00p.
All prospective mentors interested in our Mentoring Children of Promise, Amachi Mentoring or Second Chance Juvenile Mentoring Initiative programs are required to attend before they can become a mentor. Specific program related training will take place with program staff prior to being matched as a mentor. In our training those who attend will learn:

Qualities of a successful mentor

Overview of Serve Our Youth Network

Our policies and procedures as they relate to mentors

How to best engage and support your mentee.
